Qiu Yi was born in 1982 in Yantai, China. He graduated from the Shandong University of Art, Department of Sculpture, and then graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. 

Qiu Yi is an internationally recognized contemporary artist, is Special Adviser in the international development of the National Museum of Chinese Art, Executive Director of the China Urban Sculpture Artists Association, is academic correspondent at the Academy of Drawing Arts in Florence, president of the 'Association of Contemporary Art and Culture of China and Italy.

His works are part of private collections, galleries, public spaces and museums. In addition to exhibitions in China, Qiu Yi has also presented his works in international institutions, including:

Qiu Yi won the first prize of the American Visual Arts Exhibition, and was awarded by the Ohio State University. Qiu Yi was also invited to create installations for the Luigi Pecci Center for Contemporary Art in Prato, and for the UNICEF permanent collection, the United Nations Children's Fund . 

Qiu Yi took part in the Wu Weishan International Sculpture Symposium at the National Museum of China; in 2019, he was invited to participate in the 35th edition of the World Art History Congress in Florence. He has organized and is planning several art exhibitions and cultural events both in China and in Italy.

He is the Special Adviser on International Development of National Art Museum of China, Executive Director of Chinese Urban Sculpture Artists Association, Academician of Academy of the Arts of Drawing (Accademia delle Arti del Disegno) in Florence, President of AA Association of the Contemporary Art and Culture of China and Italy.

Qiu Yi was awarded the Gold Prize in the American Visual Arts Exhibition, Ohio, USA. He was invited to create installations for the Center of Contemporary Art Luigi Pecci and for the United Nations Children's Fund which was permanently collected. Qiu Yi was the invited speaker of the International Symposium on Wu Weishan Sculpture at the National Museum of China. In 2019, he was invited to the 35th World Congress of Art History in Florence.

He currently lives in Florence, Italy.
