18° edizione MILANO PHOTOFESTIVAL
The Focus photographic exhibition opens at the MA-EC Gallery on 5 October 2023. My society and me, included in the official program of the 18th edition of the Milano Photofestival.
The exhibition project will see 20 international artists interacting, offering photographs and videos in the elegant spaces of Palazzo Durini.
The Focus exhibition. My society and me is included in the program of the 18th edition of Photofestival, the art photography exhibition which from 15 September to 31 October 2023 offers a rich program of exhibitions and other initiatives spread throughout the metropolitan area of Milan and in some Lombard provinces, to promote the culture of images.
The exhibition aims to highlight the civil and social function of photography, an irreplaceable means of information from which to carry out more in-depth analyses. The photographer knows how to capture that unrepeatable moment which can become food for thought, arouse reactions, contrasts, incite the viewer to become aware of a situation, of a historical moment and perhaps trigger that desire to join a cause, to awaken conscience or even just to understand the message. Going deeper, transmitting social values, drawing attention to sometimes uncomfortable issues: this can also be the role of photography, and only the sensitivity of the photographer is able to capture that image which, even after many years, has so much to tell.
During the opening on October 5, the artist Roywang, holder of the Guinness Book of Records in 2018 and 2021 for the largest light painting in the world, will propose a performance that will involve the public. With just the flashlight on your mobile phone, you can participate in the light painting performance created by Roywang together with the other artists exhibiting in the exhibition. The recorded video of this light painting work will be screened at Roywang's next exhibitions in China and other countries around the world.
