Wednesday 25 June MA-EC Gallery presents Materia/Metamorfosi. Dialogo , a solo exhibition by Ercole Pignatelli .

The exhibition will feature a selection of representative paintings by Maestro Pignatelli and will offer the public a view of his previously unpublished plastic works, the result of decades-long deep reflection on the relationship between form and space.

Fortunato D'Amico writes : “For the first time, Ercole Pignatelli exhibits this group of works born from a metamorphosis of doing. Painting, always a privileged area of the artist, expands beyond the boundary of the canvas, abandons the plane to animate objects made of residual materials. The image takes shape, the color unites with the matter, the gesture materializes in three-dimensional form. Matter / Metamorphosis. Dialogue is born from this transmutation. Painting is integrated into original contexts. It becomes light that adheres to volumes, pigment that takes root in surfaces, decoration that germinates as a living sign. The passage is an event. The canvas is transcended and pours into the collected materials, into the found fragments, into the remains that time has allowed to emerge. Gold, black, red, blue, green, pink continue to emanate emotional and sensual vibrations, but now on the skin of things. The brush gives way to assembly, positioning, listening to a revealed truth. This first exhibition marks the public appearance of a lexical plot that has long been acting in silence, in the studio, listening. Now, for the first time, it manifests itself. And it does so as a complete organism, as a shared rite, as a magical space of metamorphosis.”

The sculptures, says Yinghao Kou, represent a three-dimensional extension of his pictorial language , and at the same time a deeper exploration of the relationship between visible and invisible, matter and spirit . His works, imbued with a profound quiet and philosophical reflection, recall the words of the Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi: “Heaven and earth have great beauty, but they do not speak.” Through the rendering of the coexistence and interdependence between positive and negative space, Pignatelli creates poetic environments full of internal tension, which reflect a vision of art as harmony with the intrinsic laws of nature.
