On Wednesday 16 April , Vertigo , Horst Beyer ’s solo exhibition curated by Roberta Bani, opens at MA-EC Gallery . Promoted by MA-EC Gallery, which has been following Horst Beyer’s artistic production for years, and organized by Techne Art Service, the exhibition presents over twenty works by the German artist, some created specifically for this project. Eight years after the major exhibition in 2017, Beyer returns to Milan with an ambitious exhibition itinerary that will see a selection of works covering a time span from 2013 to the present in the stately halls of Palazzo Durini.

“Horst Beyer, writes curator Roberta Bani, makes tangible the invisible web of energies that derives from the intersection of human lives. He lays out and pictorially applies the electric wires on the canvas and, whoever looks at them, cannot avoid the encounter with the deep emotional vibrations that they seem to recognize. For the artist, the choice to use this material arises from the need and awareness of reuse, but in particular, from experimentation, from the need to approach the abstraction of reality, to grasp its essence. The electric cable has two souls, necessary for the artistic process, the plastic sheath and the copper wire, a perfect synthesis of the substance of the human being, a metaphor for the body and the spirit in a continuous becoming. Like a musical composition, note after note, the matter finds its space and leaves its trace. A network of true and pure vibrant energy. Time intervenes on the metal and the plastic, oxidizes, hardens and distances the sharpness of the primitive image, just like the human action that with slowness and resignation becomes memory and past. Thus, the electric wire becomes the reification of encounters, of the flow of thoughts, of the flow of events, of words and silences. The rounded intervals that we find in the material assemblages become the dimension of the unexpected, the vertigo, that change that accompanies towards rebirth and pushes towards tomorrow generating energy.”

Born in Deggendorf, Horst Beyer lives and works in Tuscany. Since 2010 he has exhibited his works in solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Germany, Monaco, Spain, Slovenia and China. Some of his works were exhibited at the PRESENT ART FESTIVAL SHANGHAI in China in 2013 and 2014. He has participated in several editions of the BIENNALE DI GENOVA (International Contemporary Art Exhibition), as well as in the annual art fair ARTEGENOVA. He received the "PREMIO DELLA CRITICA" at the 3rd International Contemporary Art Competition in Genoa (SATURA International Contest 2018). Among the most recent exhibitions, in 2021 he participated in the art fair ART PARMA FAIR and the 9th BIENNALE DI MONTECARLO. In 2023 he participated in the 2nd BIENNALE MUSEO SCALVINI in Desio. In 2024 some of his works were selected for #ARTSFORSUSTAINABILITY, Florence, THE WAY YOU LOOK, Pietrasanta, IL FILO DI TURANDOT, Turin, THE OTHERS ART FAIR, Turin. In 2025 he participated in the exhibition A GREENHOUSE AFFAIR (Bi-personal) at Kosum163 Gallery in Munich and at CREMONA ART FAIR. His works are part of important private collections.

I found this topic particularly useful because commercial design involves many considerations that may not be obvious at first.
